The Buffet Crampon Festival clarinet was designed in 1987 in collaboration with three renowned clarinetists, Jacques Lancelot, Guy Deplus, and Michel Arrignon. This clarinet meets the demands of today's performers, soloists, and teachers who are faced with the most extensive repertoire, from Mozart to Boulez.

The clarinet is pitched in A and has a tuning of 440/442 Hz. It is crafted from specially selected and treated grenadilla wood, unstained to preserve its natural color. The poly-cylindrical bore allows for better sound projection and quicker response. The tenons are metal-capped for improved seal and stability of the instrument.

The Festival clarinet comes with two barrels of different sizes: 66 and 65 mm, allowing the performer to choose the length that best suits their physique and playing style. The clarinet is equipped with 18 keys and 6 rings, thus offering a wide variety of fingerings for precise playing. The thumb rest is adjustable for optimal playing comfort, and the Eb lever is standard.

The keywork of the Festival clarinet is silver-plated for an elegant aesthetic appearance. The keys and mechanics are forged, copper-plated, and silvered according to the Buffet Crampon method, which is recognized for its manufacturing quality.
