Its dual bore of 0.525/0.547 inches (13.34/13.90 mm) and immense projection make it a truly unique instrument. Featuring several specific design elements, it stands out from other S.E. Shires trombones. Explore this exceptional trombone to push the boundaries of your musical performance.

The SHIRES Ralph Sauer TBRS embodies the excellence of artisanal instrument craftsmanship. Each instrument is meticulously designed, crafted, and assembled at the S.E. Shires factory in Massachusetts, USA, delivering a sound quality of incredible depth and an unmatched tonal palette.

This model was developed in collaboration with Ralph Sauer, the renowned solo trombonist of the Los Angeles Philharmonic for 32 years, combining his expertise with the craftsmanship of S.E. Shires artisans.

The trombone features a detachable bell flare, enhancing projection while offering a compact case, ideal for travel. The smaller diameter Dual Bore slide allows for a quick and light response without compromising the internal bore size.

The conical slide delivers a powerful sound akin to a large bore trombone but with less effort. The trombone comes with shanks for both small and large shank mouthpieces.

Features of the SHIRES Ralph Sauer TBRS include a T25-47 slide with a dual bore of 0.525/0.547 inches (13.34/13.89 mm) in yellow brass and a nickel silver crook. The TY tuning slide is in yellow brass, and the instrument is equipped with two detachable yellow brass shanks, M-RS (for small bore) and MT-RS (for large bore).

The RS bell in lightweight red brass, measuring 8.5 inches (215.9 mm), is hand-hammered with traditional brazing, offering a magnificent sound and distinctive character. The Shires artisan engraving adds an aesthetic touch with a floral pattern.

The SHIRES Ralph Sauer TBRS stands out with its extraordinary slide, offering superb mechanical fluidity, immediate response, and significant playing freedom. Its flexibility allows for personalized adaptation to each musician. However, it should be noted that customization may lead to price variations.

The instrument comes with a protective case and a Shires mouthpiece. Care should be taken with the lacquer, as it can be relatively fragile.
